Different kinds of "meadowbrook" cartsDriving discussion goes here.Moderators: Sport Horse, Graymare Different kinds of "meadowbrook" carts
I am curious about Meadowbrook carts. I have seen several Meadowbrook carts advertised on eBay and have found some sites that sell them--but they are not all exactly alike.
Can someone please explain the differences I've seen? Briefly they are-- 1. Some of them have these beautiful bentwood fenders and others do not-- does a cart have to have the fenders to be a genuine "Meadowbrook"? 2. Some have these lovely curved front floors, and others have an angled front floor. Which design is the "original" or the preferred, and why the difference? 3. Is rear entry the only correct way to enter a Meadowbrook or are they also made so you can enter from the side? 4. How do you tell if a Meadowbrook is really a "draft size" cart? Is it the height of the wheels? And can you find a Meadowbrook that will "fit" both a draft and a regular horse? 5. Why isn't there any place to store things like a rain poncho on these carts? 6. Are Meadowbrook carts the normal or preferred cart that one would use for pleasure driving down the road with a Percheron-- not for shows, just for pleasure driving around town? 7. Would you use a harness with collar and hames or a "buggy" harness with a meadowbrook cart and Percheron? 8. Are there any websites with lots of photos that show the "proper" look? Thank you in advance for answering my questions. I have never really seen a Meadowbrook cart "in person." When I showed my TWH in pleasure class, I used one of those Jerald carts that my trainer had for such classes.
