hello i am new here i have a beautiful 12 yr old Percheron mare she is currently unsound , her feet are flat dry cracked and she walks on her heels her right front is the foot she is un sound and it kind of comes to a point in the middle from her toe to her cornet band she has no hoof to put a shoe on i do have easy boots on order for her i was just wondering if any one has seen any thing like this before and if their was any hope for soundness i know you guys can't tell me much but any suggestions would be helpful i have her on a hoof supplement with biotin and rainmaker hoof dressing. please see picture here http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=308574260&albumId=1592724

First, stop with any and all hoof dressing. All that goo, goop, etc. does is set up a perfect environment for yeast and fungus to thrive and keep munching on the hoof. You want dry and hard.
From what I see, I suspect White Line Disease. She needs more frequent trims to keep the white line connection tight and a good White Lightening Treatment to address the WLD. Also, do your very best to eliminate as much sugar from her diet as possible. I'd pull her off grass, soak hay and pour off the brown/sugary water and remove all grains. By decreasing the sugar in the diet, you start to eliminate the internal sugars that the yeasties feed on. Right now, her feet are a Buffet.
